This course covers emulsions in oil production and how they are broken. Participants study emulsion formation and stabilisation, the role of solids, surfactants and shear, laboratory bottle testing and demulsifier selection, separation equipment and its operation, electrostatic coalescence, heat and chemical optimisation, produced water clarification and troubleshooting.
