Petroleum Geology: From Fundamentals to Field Development
This webinar will address the methods used to characterize and calculate hydrocarbon accumulations, from the most simple deterministic ones, to the most complex, stochastic ones. Several examples will be shown to illustrate how geological complexity can be incorporated in volumetric analyses.
Webinar Objectives
You will learn the several factors (geological and physical) that come into play when calculating volumes of a hydrocarbon accumulation. The methods and formulas to use these will be explained and how oil and gas companies manage the uncertainties of such calculations.
About the Presenter
Gil Machado holds a degree in Geology and a European Doctorate (PhD) in Stratigraphy and Petroleum Geology and has ca. 12 years of experience in the Energy industry, in exploration projects of Oman, Mozambique, Brazil, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Gabon, Morocco, and other Atlantic basins. He is an advanced seismic interpreter, including sediment fairway identification, deep water sedimentation characterization, sequence stratigraphy, and prospect generation and risking. He has worked extensively with well correlation, biostratigraphy, and regional prospective studies and has managed teams and projects in multiple cultural environments.
